MAYOR’S OFFICE OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
National Disaster Resilience (NDR) Grant Workforce Training Contract Manager

Organizational Background:

In coordination with the New Orleans Workforce Development Board, the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development establishes policies, programs and interventions to connect residents to employment opportunities in the metropolitan area. The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is an energetic and entrepreneurial organization that must move at the speed of business to offer solutions to workforce demands and skills shortages.

The City of New Orleans has received funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) National Disaster Resilience Competition (NDRC) to establish the city’s first-ever resilience district by developing a national model for retrofitting post-war suburban neighborhoods into resilient, safe, equitable communities of opportunity. To support this work, the City of New Orleans has allocated $3 million in HUD NDRC grant funds for workforce development training programs. The workforce development training will focus on preparing unemployed and underemployed workers with the skills and certifications needed to participate in the construction phase of water management projects.

The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development seeks an energetic and creative self-starter who has the vision, ambition, and temperament to build a brand that has local recognition among a variety of stakeholders. The Contract Manager will be responsible for implementation and oversight of the NDR workforce training program. The Contract Manager must be able to balance both a strategic focus and day-to-day execution with limited resources.
